About Time Lily
Hey Tribe Hey!
I knew my life was going to change the day I arrived in Canada, I walked off the plane holding my sister’s hand and was submerged into complete white. Everything was white, the sky was white and the ground was white. My face was unbelievably cold. I was not back in my village, back in South Sudan. I remember thinking “what is this white stuff?, am I going to be okay?”.
My name is Lilian Yange, but please call me Lily, only my family and former bosses call me Lilian. I’m a mother to a beautiful little one year boy, Félix. I was born in South Sudan and grew up there until I moved to Canada in 2001. I grew up in a little village called Kuku, that’s why I consider my community on IG (you guys!) my tribe. My tribe is my family and that’s such a huge thing where I’m from. That’s why I take such pride in my Instagram tribe, which is all of you who are supporting me and sending my family lots of love.
So, why am i starting this blog you ask? I want to share all of myself with you all, my tribe! I am so passionate about sharing advice, and I’m so passionate about being a full-time mom and wife . I want to share that with the world. I want to share more of me with you guys, beyond images on Instagram. I want to share the story behind the images. My goal is to be completely open and share my feelings and emotions, whether this is accompanied by a picture of an outfit, a photo of my family and I, the possibilities are endless.
I promise to use this platform to inspire others and encourage you guys to go for what you want. I’m hoping I can bring more diversity into the blogosphere. I want to reach a space that all women and even men can resonate with, no matter cultural background or upbringing. I want the world to look at me and think diversities are really it right now and forever! ( I’m thinking big ya’ll!). I’m hoping to pave the way for more diverse bloggers.
I can’t stress enough that this blog is for you guys, my tribe! I want you all to succeed and never stop believing in your dreams. This is coming from a little African girl who had to leave her home due to war and had to start from scratch in a new country. If I can overcome these obstacles there’s a way we can all do it. Anything is possible in life.
Looking forward to this journey,
