FÉLIX'S BIRTH STORY

FÉLIX'S BIRTH STORY

This post is sponsored by JOHNSON’S®, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I've always wanted to share Félix's birth story with you guys and couldn't help thinking about that magical moment when I first saw my sweet baby at the hospital. It's interesting how a memory so precious to me was brought back by a scent from JOHNSON'S® wash.

Now that Félix's third birthday has passed (can you believe he's three!?), I thought it would be the perfect time to tell you guys about his first few hours on earth and the uncontrollable emotions I went through as a new mom.

Félix was born on March 3, 2016, at 11:06 a.m. I remember being in the room with Kenny and my midwife and waiting anxiously and wanting to meet him as soon as I got to the hospital.

Although I was only in labor for 5 to 6 hours, it honestly felt like forever, but the magical moments to follow will permanently be embedded in my mind.

I felt an overwhelming feeling of anguish, excitement, fear, and love, knowing that, in a few minutes, I'll be meeting a little human that'll change my life forever.

When Felix was born, my whole world changed in a moment. I now had a purpose, and I knew I wanted to be a mom. I remember holding him, staring at him; even though I was exhausted, I did not want to put him down.

The following morning, my midwife came into our hospital room and kindly informed me that we would need to give Félix his first bath. I was terrified: What if I dropped him? What if I got soap in his eyes? What if he had an allergic reaction? All the what-ifs and mom guilt started to rush through my body, and I was beyond terrified. She reassured me that everything was going to be okay, and I agreed to help her bathe my newborn.

She took him out of his bassinet and to the bathing station, supported his little head with one hand and reached over and grabbed the small bottle of JOHNSON'S® HEAD-TO-TOE® wash. She took a small cloth I packed for the hospital and began to wash his little body. Till this day, I remember how Félix was covered in wash gel from head to toe, the scent that filled our little room, and how calm Felix was in her arms. She asked me to assist her in washing his hair. I poured a small amount of baby wash onto my hands and gently scrubbed his little head and felt a rush of happiness. This baby is ours, and I've never felt unconditional love like that before.

When I use JOHNSON'S® baby products, I think back to those first moments in Felix's life.  JOHNSON'S® has continued to play a massive part in our daily routine, from morning baths, midday lotion applications due to harsh winters, and soothing bath times before bed. JOHNSON'S® products are made with their no-tear formula, so it's gentle to the eyes, allowing for a tear-free experience.

Their products do not contain parabens, phthalates, sulfates, or dyes.

With Felix's skin being extremely sensitive, their JOHNSON'S® HEAD-TO-TOE® Wash is an mild, gentle cleanser for newborn's sensitive skin and one of the products I trust to use on him every day.

Those few moments will forever have a special place in my heart, and one day when we welcome another little one into our world, I can't wait to relive those moments over again with our JOHNSON'S® bath time products.

I partnered with JOHNSON’S®, but all thoughts are of my own.
